Asia and Justice’s recent session at the Saluda Riverwalk in Columbia, South Carolina, was a day to remember for more reasons than one! Originally, Asia reached out to us for a casual couple’s session while they were visiting Justice’s family in Greenville. The couple is currently stationed in North Dakota, so this visit was a special time for them. What Asia didn’t know was that Justice had a surprise proposal planned!

A few hours before the session, Justice secretly contacted us and shared his plan. He cleverly hid the ring in his boot and asked if we had any ideas for how to make the proposal even more special. We came up with a fun and playful prompt where he would run up behind her for a surprise hug. The first time we did it, it was all laughs. The second time, though, Justice dropped to one knee, and Asia was completely caught off guard! The proposal made for some amazing candid photos, capturing the raw emotion and excitement of the moment.

After the big surprise, the rest of the session was filled with giddy laughter as we explored the scenic Saluda Riverwalk. Columbia, South Carolina’s natural beauty provided the perfect backdrop for this special day. We even managed to capture some of our favorite scenic shots at the end of the session, just as the skies turned stormy.

This shoot took place just one day before Hurricane Helene hit the Southeast, so it truly felt like a calm-before-the-storm moment. The cloudy skies added a dramatic touch to the photos, giving them an extra layer of depth. We’re excited about Asia and Justice’s upcoming wedding next fall and can’t wait to capture more unforgettable moments with them!
