When Katie first reached out to us, she came with a Pinterest board full of golden light, movement, and authenticity — and we were immediately on board. She knew exactly what she wanted, and that kind of clarity makes our job a joy.
She also told us not to expect too much from the venue. Balin’s childhood church was under construction, she said. Very DIY. Nothing fancy.
She was wrong. And we mean that in the best possible way.

Here’s what Katie actually showed up with: a dress that was absolutely perfect, hair and makeup that left us speechless, and a level of thoughtfulness in every single detail that some weddings with twice the budget don’t achieve. She invested where it mattered most to her and got creative everywhere else — and the result was one of the most beautiful wedding days we have ever photographed. We don’t say that lightly.

The ceremony took place in a field on the church’s property, surrounded by tall trees and open sky. Inside, the gym was transformed into something genuinely magical — a handmade arch, string lights strung across the ceiling, perfectly decorated tables, and table games for guests. It felt warm, romantic, and alive.

Katie and Balin made intentional space for the moments that actually matter. A first touch with private vows. A first look with Katie’s dad. These are the kinds of decisions that elevate a wedding day from beautiful to deeply meaningful — and they photograph in a way that will make you emotional for the rest of your life.
And then there was golden hour. A separate clearing in the woods on the same property gave us bokeh and glittering light in every direction. Those photos are some of our absolute favorites we have ever taken. Full stop.
Even the getting-ready space — a small sitting area set up in the church’s conference room — gave us the most moody, vintage images that we still can’t stop thinking about.

A sentimental location will always beat a polished one you have no connection to. Balin’s childhood church, construction and all, carried more meaning than any traditional venue could have offered. Katie’s creativity and intention turned their day into something beautiful.
You don’t need to spend a fortune to have a wedding day that takes your breath away. You just need to know what matters most to you — and pour your heart into that.
We’re Samantha & Brady, a husband-and-wife wedding photography team based in Columbia, South Carolina. If you’re a couple with a vision — big budget or small — we’d love to hear your story.
So let's tell it right.
We're not here to make you fit a mold.
We're here to break it with you.
I'm Samantha, the dreamer behind the lens, the one asking "but how did that make you feel?" and probably overthinking your photo timeline (in the best way). I'm driven by the process: the storytelling, the editing, and that magical energy that happens when people feel safe enough to be themselves.
Brady's my other half in life and in business, the people person who makes friends with your entire wedding party and catches those in-between shots no one else saw. While I'm crafting the vision, he's reading the room and making sure everyone feels at ease.
