Some wedding days are full of surprises, and for Caghan and Thomas, their springtime wedding at Historic Columbia’s Seibels House & Gardens in Columbia, South Carolina, was as unexpected as it was unforgettable. What was supposed to be a rain-free day took a turn, but that didn’t stop them from celebrating in the most joyful and spontaneous way possible.

Caghan and Thomas, along with their closest family and friends, traveled all the way from Texas to Columbia, SC, for their destination wedding. They wanted a place that felt special yet affordable, and Seibels House, with its historic charm and lush gardens, was the perfect fit.

Though Caghan and Thomas decided to forgo a first look together, she did plan a heartfelt first look with her brother and dad. These quiet, emotional moments set the tone for the day and reminded everyone why weddings are about so much more than just the big celebration—they’re about family, love, and the connections that matter most.

One of the things we loved about their wedding was how effortlessly stylish it was. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses, adding a unique, personal touch to the day. Every little detail came together beautifully, complementing the charm of the venue.

Despite a 0% chance of rain in the forecast, the skies had other plans. We made it through most of the day dry, but just as we wrapped up family photos after the ceremony, the rain came down in full force. Caghan and Thomas weren’t about to let a little rain dampen their spirits. They prioritized a documentary-style approach to their wedding photos, so we worked quickly—capturing their portraits in just 10 minutes as the rain poured around them on the front porch of Seibels House. It was a magical, cinematic moment that fit perfectly with our photography style.

The night ended on a high note with an incredible spread of desserts, including a s’mores bar, cake, and an array of sweet treats. Guests danced, laughed, and celebrated under the glow of string lights, making it clear that the rain only added to the magic of the day.

Caghan and Thomas’s wedding was a testament to the beauty of embracing the unexpected. We’re so grateful to have been part of their celebration and to continue capturing love stories throughout Columbia, South Carolina, and beyond.
